A two-time U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion, Glenfiddich Fiddle Champion of Scotland, and two-time Maritime Fiddle Champion of Canada, Mari Black brings extraordinary virtuosity and heartfelt storytelling to every performance. Joined by her dynamic Celtic band, she invites audiences into a high-energy, dance-driven celebration that both honors centuries-old traditions and pushes the music forward with fresh, contemporary flair.)

8/8, 7pm, Overlook Quartet (Praised as “breathtaking” by New York Music Daily, The Overlook is a New York–based string quartet featuring violinists Monica Davis and Yezu Woo, violist Angela Pickett, and cellist Laura Metcalf. Formed during the pandemic to build community through music, the ensemble is committed to amplifying the voices of living composers and engaging audiences through performances that make contemporary chamber music both accessible and deeply compelling.)

8/13, 7pm, The String Queens (Praised for their authentic, soulful sound, this dynamic Washington, D.C.–based trio blends classical, jazz, and contemporary hits. From Baroque favorites to today’s Billboard chart-toppers, their vibrant performances inspire joy, imagination, and connection across genres and generations.

The String Queens have appeared on stages nationwide, including Carnegie Hall and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to their performance careers, violinist Kendall Isadore, violist Dawn Johnson, and cellist Elise Sharp are celebrated music educators, recognized for their commitment to community engagement and honored with the DC Jazz Festival’s 2022 Jazz Education Award.)

8/16, 7pm, Members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, violinist Philip Kates and fellow musicians from The Philadelphia Orchestra are joined by acclaimed pianist Hanchien Lee for an evening of richly expressive chamber music. The program highlights masterworks by Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn, two composers whose contributions to the Romantic repertoire continue to gain long-overdue recognition

Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio in g minor, Op. 17 (1846), widely regarded as the crowning achievement of her compositional output, reveals both dramatic intensity and lyrical elegance. Fanny Mendelssohn’s Piano Quartet in A-flat Major (1823) offers a brilliant testament to her musical imagination and technical command. 

Also featured is String Trio (1982) by Ellen Taaffe Zwilich—the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize in Music—adding a powerful contemporary voice to a program that celebrates women composers across generations.

8/19, 2pm, Medusa (Medusa is a genre-defying folk quartet combining ancient string traditions with contemporary storytelling. Featuring rare instruments and global influences—from the Middle East to Appalachia—their original music is immersive and inclusive, revealing the shared threads that connect us. Comprised of Georgia Hathaway, Lea Kirstein, Marta Solek, and Saskia Tomkins, Medusa brings together an all-star collective of folk innovators whose spellbinding palette of instruments—including the nyckelharpa, suka, plock fiddle, and knee fiddle—creates a sound both ancient and strikingly new. 

Drawing on musical traditions from Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Appalachia, and the Celtic world, the ensemble reclaims Medusa as a symbol of vision, power, and inclusivity, inviting listeners into a bold musical space where cultural boundaries dissolve and shared humanity emerges.)

Husband and wife duo Sun-A Park and Ammon Bratt close the festival season with an extravagant evening of music for piano four-hands — performed with brilliance and virtuosity on The Sembrich’s coveted 1905 Steinway!

This all-American program features dazzling concert showpieces by Judith Lang Zaimont, Amy Beach, Samuel Barber, and George Gershwin. Dress in festive black and white attire for an ebony and ivory inspired lakeside reception following the performance!
